Richard Weller is a dynamic drummer and composer, celebrated for his rock-solid groove and deep musicality. With influences spanning jazz, classic rock, and Dixieland, he has captivated audiences for years in both New York City and Los Angeles.
Richard has performed with a variety of acclaimed artists, including the big bands of Bob Florence and Ladd McIntosh. He toured Japan as a featured soloist with the Percy Faith Orchestra and completed multiple tours with the Billy Vaughn Orchestra. As a recording artist, his album Tunes Remembered climbed to #49 nationally on the JazzWeek charts.
Currently, Richard performs with the LA6 Jazz Ensemble, the Side Street Strutters, and the Sinatra Tribute Band, bringing his electrifying presence to every performance. Whether sharing the stage with legends like Debbie Boone, John Davidson, and The Four Freshmen, or driving the pulse of hard-hitting jazz ensembles, Richard always keeps the music fresh, exciting, and deeply connected to the audience.
In addition to his performance career, Richard was an affiliate faculty member at the State University of New York at Purchase and held a similar position at California State University, Northridge for 20 years.
